Beyond the Barbed Wire: An Artists View of the Holocaust

Very well done
I had heard really good things about this video so I decided to check it out. I was not disappointed. The subject matter is obviously very heavy and is treated with a great deal of respect. For those who want to go beyond the history books, this is a very personal account and truly shows the human side of this dark time. Highly recommended.

Inspiring
This story is such a powerful testament to the human spirit. Ben Altman survived hell, and as dark as that era was, his story needs to be told and this DVD does a wonderful job of doing that. It is amazing and so inspiring that people can suffer such horrific tragedy and yet their spirit not be broken.

One-Of-A-Kind Tale
There can be no doubt that the Holocaust remains one of the most horrifying events of human history. Its costs are well-documented and forever tragic. But even this is not always enough. Understanding the immensity of this period requires more than simple texts. It instead requires truth.

And "Beyond the Barbed Wire: An Artist's View of the Holocaust" offers that.

Incredibly moving, "Beyond the Barbed Wire" is a must-see for any viewer. Charting the story of Ben Altman--painter, tailor, survivor--the film explains the beginnings of war and its all-too tangible results. Altman's story will put a face to the facts and, in that, viewers will understand the relevance.

All should note, however, that this is not a tepid story. Details are given, unflinchingly. And, for some, this may prove to be too much. But all will still find this film to be worthwhile and powerful.
